Which does not mean there’s no mysteries or strangenesses to discover, once you’ve decided to abandon yourself to the Indian timewarp… Compared to Pop sounds from other Far East Nations (say Thailand, or Cambodia) these tunes here are better accessible as Indians speak (and sing) quite perfectly English. From the various genres, I selected the tunes that might be tagged “Beat”, “Pop” or “Psychedelia” adding a few more tracks I found at Bobby Mudgel’s Youtube channel and here you go with a set of 26. I understand he visits India on a regular basis searching for vinyl and sharing his findings at his blogsite. Recently though, Florian Pittner of the amazing hindustanib-music.blogspot proved that you can find never compiled 60s gems between Bollywood and temple music if you only dig deep enough. As far as I’m aware, apart from the original Simla Beat Contest-samplers there had never been other compilations focusing on Indian teen combos from the 60s.
